Edibles, beverages, and pot for vaping are among products that will still be outlawed when the drug was legalized on Oct. 17. The government has said it wants more time to address the “unique risks” around that slice of the market, including quality control, dosage, portion sizes and packaging.
However with that said, and the amount of money and research being put into this new potential market of cannabis infused beverages, this looks more likely to be happening then not.
When it comes to insurance, this is going to happen a lot slower then the legalization side. Most insurance companies will not offer coverage for companies entering into this space for moral or other reasons. We recommend inquiring with your current provider that if you are thinking about entering into the Cannabis infused market, do they have the ability to offer this coverage for your business?
At Beverage protect we have been in constant communication with our underwriter, carriers and customers and are pleased to be able to announce that, once legalized our customized insurance products across all lines will be able to incorporate the appropriate coverage required.
